East O’the Sun, West O’the Moon

“Our festival finale is a family-friendly storytelling event based upon the Norwegian fairy tale, East of the Sun, West of the Moon. This session will bring together art, music and storytelling offering an unforgettable, immersive experience with storyteller Jacqueline Harris, cellist and composer Maja Bugge and artwork from acclaimed illustrator Jackie Morris.

Jacqueline Harris writes, tells and dramatizes stories based around folkloric and mythical themes. She weaves audio, film and projection into her stories and works to incorporate community stories into her live performances, to draw out particular themes.

Maja Bugge is an award winning composer and cellist, hailing from Norway and now based in Lancaster. Maja has undertaken numerous projects involving improvisation and has a special interest in works that explore the relationship between text and music.

Jackie Morris is an award-winning illustrator of books for children and adults. Her sumptuous illustrations and vivid depiction of the natural world have earned her a legion of fans the world over. Jackie has kindly offered the use of illustrations from her illustrated edition of East of the Sun West of the Moon, published by Frances Lincoln.”
